We are planning to redo our floors this summer and I can hardly wait. One of the drawbacks of planning a house on the other side of the country– which we did when moving from Maryland to Alaska– is you can’t see what you’re choosing in real life and sometimes things just don’t work. This happened to us in the form of poor quality floors that are already falling apart in less than three years! So we are tearing it all out, nixing carpet completely, and going with new floors throughout the entire house. Naturally with a house of hard floors we’ll need rugs to create a little softness and coziness throughout our home. I have been searching for beautiful area rugs for our different living areas and am already excited envisioning clean, wood floors topped with chic rugs. They have such a classic way of pulling together a room and adding interest to the decor. Here are my current favorite area rugs:
One: I love the soft femininity of the subtle rose design.
Two: You have to check this one out up close; it is natural hemp woven with silver suede for fun pops of metallic shimmer. I love it for a family-friendly living room.
Three: If only I could talk Nate into this gorgeous pink rug in a main living area. I just love it paired with our gray and navy decor.
Four: I can’t think of anything more uplifting than stepping onto this cozy, colorful rug every morning!
Five: This thick navy blue border is a great way to bring in color yet still remain neutral.
Six: The rope detailing in this rug keeps it looking far from basic. I love the texture it brings to a room.
Seven: I’ve had my eye on this gorgeous rug since its debut a few years ago and I think it will look perfect in a walk-in closet.
Eight: A haphazard herringbone pattern makes this rug a subtle statement piece.
Nine: A classic flokati rug with a geometric design. I love it in a round shape, which is less typical.
