Today I am excited to reveal the sex of our growing pierogi!
It’s a girl!
I must have the worst instincts, because I was convinced both Waverley and this little one were boys. This time around, I even went as far as ordering blue confetti before I was officially told the news because I “just knew.” Clearly, not so much. When I learned Waverley was a girl, I was quite shocked to say the least. With this little one, I was equally as shocked. I never envisioned myself as the mother to only girls and escaping my preconceived notions of what my life would be like has been the most difficult aspect of welcoming this news. Obviously it’s silly to make such uncontrollable plans! I hear you sighing and I completely agree.
Once I took a few days to process the news, which essentially consisted of mourning the loss of the son we won’t have, I have grown legitimately excited to meet this little babe and raise sisters. Sisters are such a wonderful gift and I know the bond between Waverley and her will last forever. I get super emotional when I think of them together, sharing secrets, having sleepovers, and being close enough in age that they can relate to one another early on. And then I pretty much lose it when I think of what an amazing father Nate already is and how he is going to help shape these two girls into amazing women. A girl really couldn’t ask for a better dad. These pregnancy hormones!
However, I am a little nervous for those sister squabbles and their teenage years. I am anxious of mothering two girls and wonder if I am capable of being strong enough. All of a sudden, I feel immense pressure to be this amazing woman and set an incredible example for them. Finally, I am worried about facilitating healthy relationships between us all and encouraging their lifetime bond. I’d love to hear your thoughts and advice from the mamas of multiple girls! Please tell me all of the do’s and don’ts and pros and cons of raising sisters and what I can expect in the years ahead. Thank you in advance:)
