Happy Friday! Has this week dragged on for forever and day or what? As soon as we touched down in Alaska it has been a whirlwind of back-to-school business and what seems like a million emails to respond to. I decided that traveling with a toddler is similar to being pregnant: during the thick of it the experience can be miserable, exhausting, and cause one to question every decision ever made. But then a few months after the fact, the negative aspects fade and the idyllic visions of baby bumps and new cities dance in my head. This is the only explanation I have for my constant traveling with Waverley for such long periods of time. By the time I’ve forgotten how hard it is, I am ready to plan another trip. It is not logical! Waverley’s mood swings were not for the faint of heart this trip. She is starting to incorporate more full body movements as well for extra effect. Here are a few of her meltdowns and woes of toddlerhood! #parentingbliss
- She wanted to walk, NOT ride in the stroller.
- She wanted to push the stroller.
- She wanted to stand in the middle of a business’ driveway on a busy street.
- She needed ice cream immediately! As in five minutes ago!
- I collapsed her stroller prior to boarding the airplane.
- She insisted on playing with the fireplace tools, primarily the poker.
- She did not want her water bottle, she wanted a cup of water.
- She dumped out of the cup of water. She wanted more water.
- A dog sniffed her special buddies. Therefore, all dogs are secretly attempting to take them. “MY buddies!”
- She did not want to share a smoothie with her mother. “No share Mama!”
- She only wanted chips for lunch.
- She wanted everyone’s french fries on her plate.
- She did not want kisses.
- Her mother went to the bathroom. The horror!
- Her mother held another baby.
- She preferred to not go up the stairs by herself.
- Other people’s presence insinuated my departure, therefore she screamed “I want Mama!” every time she came across someone semi unfamiliar who may dare babysit her.
- She wanted to go swimming. She did not want to get in the swimming pool.
Whew! What a fun two weeks it’s been. Here’s to motherhood!
PS I am seeking questions for this month’s Ask an OT post! Please leave a question in the comments below or feel free to email me at lesleigh@pearlsonastring.com for more privacy. Thanks so much! I am excited to read them!
PPS Should we make a hashtag on Instagram so everyone can share their toddler’s meltdowns? Thoughts?

I emailed a couple ideas. Also loving the #reasonswhymytoddleriscrying idea. This morning it was because she moved her toys basket into the hall and promptly decided she didn’t want it there.

Thanks so much for your emails Katie! I think they are all great ideas for posts! Also, I love Amelia’s woe for the day. I also hate when I move things and decide I hate it in that spot:)
