The snow is melted and temperatures finally hover above freezing. This means Waverley demands to spend most of her waking hours o’siiii (outside). With a bonafide Baby/Toddler Walker and tolerable outside temperatures brings many parental lessons and freak outs as Waverley learns the ropes of traffic. Clearly she has no fear or understanding of what the gigantic balls of metal are flying down the road. In Alaska 99% of cars are huge trucks, often resembling choo choos (trains, obviously) in their grandeur, which seem to be endearing to a tiny child. Pay no attention to those monsters because she is dead set on making it across the street, usually to our neighbors’ house who have a significantly better toy selection than we do. The life of a Baby/Toddler Hybrid! Here is the weekly rundown of Waverley’s toddler woes:
- We demand to hold her hand when crossing the street, which is apparently parallel to sawing her arm off at the shoulder.
- She wanted more strawberries. She would not eat anything until more strawberries were on her plate. Then, miraculously strawberries appeared on her plate and she proceeded to eat the rest of her dinner.
- She will not wear shoes. Do not even suggest them! Rain boots forever!
- It’s bath time.
- Bath time is over.
- She wanted to bring the wagon on a walk.
- She did not want to ride in the wagon. How dare you! Just pull it along for emergencies.
- She wants to eat completely by herself. Do. Not. Offer. Assistance.
- Not that book!
- She does not want to go in her car seat! She wants to play in the garage! Who cares if we are going to the park! The garage is the best place on earth, obviously!
Have a great weekend everyone! If you feel like you’re having a bad day, I hope this list brings you comfort. Things could always be worse.
