The best part, I imagine, about visiting Alaska in the winter is the snow! Although we’re having a record-setting low snowfall this year, there is still lots of snow fun to be had in the surrounding area. When my dearest friend and her two littles visited last week we went in search of a great sledding location. The almost three year-old had a blast and nearly ate all of the snow off the (read: Elsa’s) mountain. The 11 month-old decided she is rather indifferent towards sledding, snow, and cold temperatures and immediately retreated into survival mode. Waverley enjoyed surveying the scene, but preferred being tossed up and down to careening down the mountain at warp speed. I learned that hauling any size child in a sled up a hill in my husband’s much-too-large snow pants is a really good workout. More than anything though, that sky was breathtaking.
