Waverley was baptized in April in my hometown of Salem, Oregon. The after-party (which she slept through most of, naturally) was held at my best friend’s mother’s house with the most exquisite view of hills and lush green fields, plus a spacious lawn perfect for impromptu sprinkler sessions. It was one of those occasions when you realize how amazing those dearest to you are, because I literally did nothing except for send out the invitations and show up with the baby. My girlfriends and the hostess took care of everything and it was completely lovely.
