Last week we had our first houseguests in Alaska and explored Seward, which is a tiny little coastal town and apparently a destination in itself. The highlight of our trip was a nine hour glacier and fjord tour around Kenai Fjords National Park. It was one of those magical days when the few days prior and the few days after are pouring rain, yet we lucked out with perfect weather. It was so fun to see whales, (baby!) seals, puffins, porpoises, and sea otters. And, if you can believe it, I did have a moment of serenity when we sat quietly gazing at the glacier for 30 minutes while Waverley slept in her carrier and I enjoyed the (surprisingly warm) sun on my face. Maybe it was because I didn’t feel like we were actually in Alaska? Or maybe because I felt like my dad had something to do with that remarkable moment?
Our adventure continued with five adults, three toddlers, one infant, and one dog cozying up in a one bedroom/one bathroom cabin. True story. If you find yourself in Seward, eat at Chinooks Bar and Zudy’s Cafe and definitely go out in a boat to make new sea life friends.

That is pretty amazing Lesleigh. I am sure your dad was with you every step of the way. Aunt Beth

Seward is amazing and there is great fishing there as well. Ed and I went salmon and halibut fishing out of Seward. Very fun. I’m sure your dad was there knowing you were by the water. I hope you continue to have wonderful adventures in Alaska this summer. Aunt Marci
