I hope everyone had a lovely weekend and was able to spend time with family. Poor Charlie had a bit of a rough weekend that entailed a trip to the emergency vet and a non-sedated procedure. Obviously this necessitates extreme spoiling and serious pain medication. Doesn’t he look adorably devastated leaving the vet?
The best thing about puppy treats is that just about anything can be thrown in and they are sure to be a hit, except bitter tasting pills. In order to smuggle his meds into the treats I poked kebab sticks through the center to create a little hiding place. (Shhh!)
{Ingredients}
1/2 cup applesauce
1/3 cup honey
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup peanut butter
One egg
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Two cups whole wheat flour
One cup oats
3/4 cup carob chips
{Remember to use natural ingredients sans added salt and sugar for your pup.}
{Directions}
Heat the oven to 350°. Mix the wet ingredients together first. Add the flour, stir, and then fold in the oats and carob chips.
Form the dough into approximately one inch round balls and place on a cookie sheet. If smuggling pills in there is needed stab a kebab stick in the center. Bake for 30 minutes and transfer to a cooling rack.
Success!

Thank you! I actually did try them (is that gross?). They are super bland but Charlie sure digs them!
