Plaid + Lace

The best piece of entertaining advice I ever read was to set the table at least a day, if not a few days, in advance. Get all of the plates, silverware, glasses, and serving pieces out. Everything except water in the glasses! Utilizing this one simple invaluable tip has saved me time, stress, and the inevitable and last-minute “Oh no the giant platter doesn’t fit/is filthy/is broken” catastrophe. So this year for our Christmas Eve soirée, I am doing just that. I planned my outfit and am busy getting the table ready in preparation for Friday. When hosting, I love wearing something that is both festive and comfortable without being over the top. This year I am wearing a simple lace skirt (which, by the way, is on a really great sale right now) and a plaid shirt, for that sweet juxtaposition of dressy, festive, and casual all in one.
