Happy Friday! What is it about short weeks always seeming longer than a regular week? Friday could not come soon enough this week. What are your plans? We are laying low since Nate is recovering from his epic sheep hunt in which he returned about 15 lbs lighter. I am considering going next year for that reason alone. We are also having friends over for dinner and I am debating between making this or this. What should I make for dessert?
Waverley has had a lot going on the past few weeks. First, her dad vanished for a week and she was stuck with just me. I think she was unimpressed with that. Second, she is inching towards being a bonafide two year-old with each passing day and apparently that is hard on a girl. She recently learned and memorized the word “mine” yet adds a “d” sound to the end. So everything is “mind, mind, mind!” I blame the commencement of preschool for this trait; I was hoping to stave off this phase for as long as possible. In addition to everything being hers, here are the other reasons she burst into tears lately:
- Her friend drew on her kitchen with washable marker.
- She did not receive a special treat for breakfast.
- She threw her apple on the floor.
- She was put in timeout for throwing her apple on the floor.
- She did not want to ride in my car, she wanted to ride in “mind truck.”
- She wanted what was on everyone else’s plate except for her own. It was all the same food.
- She hated “meat and potato pie” but loved the same dish when referred to as “dinner cookies.”
- She suddenly stopped wanting to sit on our lap for story time and instead insists on kneeling in front of the chair. I think this is a preschool thing?
- Every meal must include bread.
- I asked her to clean up her toys.
- It was bath time.
- Bath time was over.
- The jets in the bathtub are terrifying.
- She wanted her friend’s snack, but did not want to share her snack. “NO SHARE!”
- She could not handle staying in her high chair at a restaurant for lunch.
Phew. Toddlers are fun! I hope you have a lovely weekend!
