I realize things have been a little melancholy around pearls on a string lately but I am excited to report life is looking up these days. I just bought my ticket to Oregon for an extended stay next month and (drumroll, please!) will join the outside world again soon after I return. After much deliberation, contemplation, months of correspondence and harassment (on my part), I am very excited to switch from the clinical world to academia as an adjunct professor of occupational therapy. I attended orientation this week and upon getting dressed in real clothes (silk blouse, light sweater, trousers) I looked in the mirror and thought “Oh hey, I know you. There you are.” I felt the familiar feeling of not having enough letters behind my name as I sat in the room with deans and doctors of all sorts and I loved it. I thrive on that. I left inspired. To celebrate, I’ve been dreaming of some items befitting of a stylish professor. (Naturally.)
