Like I mentioned on Monday, this past weekend I had the blissful opportunity to have a weekend away. No baby. Out of Alaska. Can you believe it! As the taxi dropped me off at the airport I worried I was forgetting something important. I felt totally naked. Apparently that is what happens when one is used to lugging around a 20 pound human and all of her stuff. To everyone I saw, especially families, I wanted to tell them “I HAVE A BABY AT HOME. I AM TRAVELING BY MYSELF FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE SHE WAS BORN! THIS IS *SO* AMAZING! ISN’T THIS AMAZING!” I made it through check-in and security in an unprecedented ten minutes and was painfully early. I called my sister. “CAN YOU BELIEVE I’M TRAVELING WITHOUT WAVERLEY THIS IS SO AMAZING ISN’T THIS AMAZING WHAT IS GOING ON!” She agreed.
It was amazing. I highly recommend anyone visit the tiny little town in Central Oregon, Sisters. It seems like just a stop on the way to Mt. Bachelor, Bend, or Sunriver, but Sisters itself is charming, quaint, and provided the perfect backdrop for a lovely weekend away with friends and nothing more to do than relax. My favorite places we ventured to were Sisters Coffee Company for great coffee and delicious breakfast sandwiches, The Open Door for dinner, wine and dessert, and Suttle Lake for a picturesque hike.
Now I’m back in Alaska. C’est la vie.

You totally should! It’s such a quick drive from Portland.
