I am unapologetically obsessed with my dog.
I don’t feel bad about this because I know 99% of people who have dogs before they have kids are exactly the same way. (Don’t pretend to be above this, Parents of Human Children.) My dog, Charlie, has been with me since just before college graduation. He accompanies my husband and I nearly everywhere we go. If it weren’t for him, the girls at Anthropologie wouldn’t know my name and the fine jewelry section at Nordstrom wouldn’t know to keep doggie treats readily available.
Charlie has been pleading with his eyes for a tasty Valentine’s Day treat ever since I made these cupcakes. If you love your dog you’ll make these, too.
♥Peanut Butter Hearts and Bones♥
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
3 eggs
2 tablespoons chicken broth
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
These are très easy: Mix all the ingredients together with an electric mixer, knead dough and then roll out with a rolling pin, cut into shapes with cookie cutters, and bake at 35o° for 20 minutes. I’ve also added cheddar cheese, carob chips, pumpkin, and cooked chicken to this recipe in the past. Peanut butter and chicken do sound gross together but does your dog really care?
And since it is the day of love, Charlie wanted to impress some of his girlfriends.
Do you have a favorite homemade doggie treat recipe? Do share! Woof.

Awe thanks:) Charlie is a great dog name, right? And spaniels are the best!

SB4L!
Our beloved son, Donny, had a taste of these gems tonight for his 2nd bday! When he loves a treat he carries it to a private place in the house so he can’t be bothered during his indulgence. He immediately took this treat behind the coffee table. 🙂
Oh, and for extra ridiculousness, I stamped his name into a couple of them with alphabet stamps.
